"Know thyself” is a portrait of a female Black Bear. The original was painted on a three feet by four feet panel, (36”x 48”). I painted this piece large so the observer will be able to look into the eyes of an animal many of us will never be able to look into or care to because of fear. However the eyes are the windows to the soul. During the course of this painting it came to me to paint the reflected light in her eyes as the earth from space. Days later I received the paintings title. “Know Thyself”. This bear taught me everything crossing our path in life is a spiritual lesson. See it through the eyes of fear and your perceived world along with everything in it becomes fears reflection. See it through the eyes of love and your perceived world along with everything in it becomes holy and a reflection of God’s creation.
Awakening to this truth is the beginning to the end of fears dark nightmare and knowing thyself is the only way peace will occur on this earth.
